Our Purpose
What is the purpose of Calvary Baptist Church?
We consider our purpose to be the fulfillment of the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; and teaching them to obey all I have commanded you . . ."
We desire to fulfill this mission/vision by "introducing people to Christ and leading them from infancy to maturity in Christ."
In some of the literature and brochures we have produced, we have incorporated a brief subtitle with our Church Name: Calvary Baptist Church - Bringing People to the Cross. This phrase is our way of drawing attention to incredible act of Grace displayed in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. It is through the cross that God has reconciled man to Himself. We want to encourage people to consider the reality of the cross and the need for forgiveness. When an individual has made a decision to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, we then are committed to leading that person through a process of spiritual growth.
Through our five major functions of Prayer, Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship and Evangelism we seek to lead others to a saving encounter with Christ resulting in an ongoing, maturing relationship with our Lord Jesus!
