Our History

Calvary Baptist Church was birthed on March 5th, 2000 with the first worship service held at the Keathley University Center Auditorium on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. Calvary was born through a CALL, a call placed by the Lord upon the lives of many who envisioned the opportunity for a unique and significant ministry in Murfreesboro. The initiation of Calvary Baptist Church gave hope to this group of individuals a hope of unity in purpose; and another of a desire to place a Church under the Lordship of Christ. Calvary burst onto the scene with a significant group of over 400 initial members. After four weeks of worship services, Calvary began holding Sunday School Classes for all ages utilizing a university style approach. Youth Worship on Sunday nights began with the first Sunday of Calvary's existence. With worship and Sunday School in place, a need for a mid week ministry became apparent. Because of the potential to develop relationships among church members, Calvary began to chart a new direction with the establishment of a cell group ministry called Key Groups. In addition to the Key Groups, we began a children's ministry emphasizing choir and Bible study.
